Enyimba FC skipper Mfon Udoh is very excited and surprised to have received an invite to join the Nigeria national team players who will face Liberia in a friendly on Tuesday.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) record goalscorer is among five home-based players who were called up by coach Gernot Rohr ahead the game in Monrovia.
“I feel happy for this unexpected call-up because every player wishes to play in the highest level and representing your country is something wonderful especially in the Super Eagles,” Udoh told Football Live.
“I’m looking forward to take this opportunity to prove myself even if it’s the last minute of the game I will try my best to prove myself, I feel relax and also happy.”
The match is in celebration of Liberian President, former World Footballer of the Year George Oppong Weah.
It is scheduled for Tuesday evening at the 35,000-capacity Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
