Juventus share price drops 10% amid Ronaldo rape claims

Juventus shares dropped nearly 10 per cent on Friday following a rape claim against Cristiano Ronaldo causing concern among sponsors.

Ronaldo has been accused of rape by Kathryn Mayorga, who claims the Juventus forward assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel in June 2009. He has firmly denied the accusation.

Sponsors Nike and video game maker EA Sports have expressed concern about the allegations facing Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Juventus sent a statement of support on Thursday and called him a “great champion”.

The tweets read: “Ronaldo has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus.”
