Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has hinted that Deportivo de La Coruña keeper Francis Uzoho, 19 will be part of the Nigerian squad to Russia 2018.
With former first-choice keeper, Woves star Carl Ikeme inactive and Vincent Enyeama who has appeared in multiple World Cups calling time on his national team career, and no credible option available, Rohr might be relying on Uzoho for the World Cup and he has been provided with a trainer.
”We have had problems in the past and have solved it. There would also be answers as we progress. Unfortunately, Carl Ikeme had health issues and Vincent Enyeama quit the national team,” Rohr said.
”We had Ikechukwu Ezenwa who has not done badly. He was great in the WAFU Cup. There has also been the coming of Francis Ozoho in Deportivo de La Coruña .
”He was exciting in the friendly against Argentina and we have sent a trainer to be working with him in Spain.”
Francis Uzoho has kept eight clean sheets in twelve matches for Deportivo de La Coruña’s teams this season, while conceding 7 goals.
