Nigeria U-23 striker Sadiq Umar has joined Dutch club NAC Breda from AS Roma on loan till the end of the season.
Umar, who was part of the team that won the bronze medal for Nigeria at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016, has an option to stay at the Rat Verlegh Stadion on a permanent deal after his loan spell.
“Sadiq (Umar) is a very talented player who has already played at the top level,” Technical director Hans Smulders told Breda’s official website.
“In his search for more playing time, Sadiq now has to compete with the other strikers in our team.
“We took him on loan for half a year, but we’ve expressed the intention to extend this in the summer until mid-2019.”
Umar, who joined the Italian Serie A side in 2015, scored only twice from six appearances.
He previously joined Bologna and Torino on loan but failed make notable impacts at both clubs.
