France have been crowned the inaugural Star Sixes champions, after they beat Denmark 2-1 on Sunday evening at the London O2.

A host of stars who helped the country to World Cup success in 1998, and Euro 2000 glory reunited for more silverware as former Bolton midfielder Youri Djorkaeff grabbed the deciding goal for the side captained by Arsenal legend Robert Pires.

Former Barcelona and Monaco winger Ludovic Giuly had given the French the lead in the final, after they had overcome Spain in their semi-final earlier in the evening.

The Danes, who saw off Brazil in their semi-final game, came back in the game through Daniel Jensen, before Djorkaeff slipped a shot into the bottom corner late on to ensure Pires was the skipper to lift the trophy at the end of the four-day tournament.
