Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, who parade world-class stars like Carlos Tevez, Demba Ba and Obafemi Martins, say they are taking legal action over suggestions of match-fixing after they secured a last-gasp 2-2 draw at Fabio Capello’s Jiangsu Suning.

A statement issued by the club read: “We solemnly tell Shenhua fans, please fully trust our management, coaching staff and all the players. We have set up a special team of lawyers, using a variety of legal means, to investigate the people involved in these rumours.”

Meanwhile, Shanghai Shenhua were fined £100,000 in 2013 and stripped of their 2003 league title for rigging a game.
