Wolfsburg defender Felix Uduokhai has stated that he is open to representing the Nigeria national team ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Germany-born Uduokhai, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his Nigerian dad, has been a revelation at Wolfsburg this season.
The 20 year old defender acknowledges his Nigerian heritage and has revealed that he remains neutral in the choice of the national team he wants to represent, despite being eligible to feature for world champions Germany.
”I have not been to Nigeria often yet, but I talk a lot about it with my dad, and have family there.
“That’s where my roots lie, it’s important to me to stay neutral, ” Uduokhai said in an interview with German sport news outlet, Kicker.
”Of course, the German national team is the top in world football, but also Nigeria is well staffed. Currently, I’m really open to both sides.”
Deployed in the centre-back position, Uduokhai has scored three goals in 17 appearances for Wolfsburg this season.
